wonder-filled moment

virginal  and  mysterious

gone before it’s met

impossible to breathe in

the nuances of  its meaning

¤

“please stay”    i whisper plaintively

“a little while…     a little while…

never again shall this come my way

untainted  and  unknown

…i wish to understand”

¤

time cares not,  continuing in its dance

a wisp of  my experience

an unwitting partner

¤

the taste of  virginity lost

all that remains upon my lips

“You Can Leave Your Hat On”    Joe Cocker with choreography by Danyelle Eddy
{disclaimer ~ this song has nothing to do with this poem but i enjoyed the chair dance by real women}

this poem isn’t meant to refer solely to losing one’s virginity sexually,  but to ANY activity the first time one experiences it ~ it can’t ever be the same because it will never be totally new and unexpected again.  and there isn’t enough time to truly savor the uniqueness of  that first exposure to whatever it is.
