Mary Mansfield

i am pleased to be featuring some of  the most creative,  talented,  brilliant  {really!}  poets of  our time.  i have been fortunate over the past two and a half years to meet this amazing group of  people through twitter and their blogs.  not only are they writers who excite and enchant and entrance their readers,  they are,  one and all,  nice people who are supportive of  everyone in our online poetry community.  the “age of  technology”  has,  in fact,  facilitated the spread of  the ARTS! ~  poetry,  photography,  art,  prose,  music…   i have friends i have yet to meet face-to-face from all around the world.  day or night,  you can visit their blogs and be transported to another time or place or frame of  mind with just a few clicks of  a mouse.  i find it thrilling!  and i believe you will find it equally thrilling to discover their words.

just click on the  “Read More”  links on each poem to be taken to a new tab or window to read the rest of  the poem on the author’s blog.  if  you enjoy what you read,  please leave a comment on their blog to let them know.  { you don’t have to say you saw them here. }  i am truly honored that these wonderful people agreed to be featured on my blog ~  my gratitude to them all.

and thank you for coming to our celebration ~  enjoy!

 Mary  Mansfield

i just met Mary Mansfield in 2012 when she joined the team of  prompt providers at  Poetry Jam.  she is also a member of  imaginary garden with real toads.  Mary’s personal poetry blog is  Write Wing Conspiracy.   this is how she describes herself  ~

“Mom to an eleven year old.  Writer/poet.  NASCAR fan.  Political junkie.  Karaoke diva.  Smartass.  A mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a side of bacon.  I grew up the typical brainy kid:  excellent grades,  reading anything I could get my hands on.  It was a creative writing class during my junior year of high school that truly sparked the writing bug in me.   ( Thank you, Mr. Lancaster,  wherever you are! )  I only have one publishing credit,  in a local weekly paper that promptly went out of business the week after my poem appeared  ( which I hope is a total coincidence. )  No major awards yet,  unless you count the  “World’s Most Awesome Mom”  certificate hanging on my refrigerator.  My graduating class did vote me  “Most Likely to Be Elected President,”  but I’m not entirely sure that was a compliment.  I was lucky enough to enough be a contestant on Jeopardy in 2002  ( won twice,  unfortunately no daily double. )  When I’m not writing,  I can usually be found spending time with the family,  watching NASCAR,  or rocking my best diva attitude during karaoke.”
Mary has another blog  Free Range Randomness  HERE.  she recently had a poem published online at  BullyVille  and was interviewed   HERE  at  Poets United.  you can find  Write Wing Conspiracy on Facebook  HERE.  Mary also says she is  “Plotting world domination one poem at a time…”

A Modern Take on Fairy Tales   by   Mary Mansfield

I quit believing in fairy tales long ago.
These stories carry a promise of happiness
But baffle us when reality negates fantasy.

There are no glass slippers for these feet,
No magical delivery of an elegant gown
Spun from starlight by a fairy godmother.
I’ve never wandered the dark hallways
That lead to enchanted towers
Or alone through a haunted wood,
Basket of goodies in hand,
Anxiously…..Read More

The Zombie Apocalypse    by   Mary Mansfield

“We ask that everyone please remain calm.
The zombie horde approaches,
Mindless entities bent on destruction.
We have yet to identify the source of mutation,
Whether a voodoo ritual gone horribly awry,
A failed laboratory experiment,
