what’s good for the goose
is good for the gander

everybody’s drunk

£

drugs,  sex  and rock ‘n roll
these were a few of  my favorite things

now that i’m older
  i don’t listen to much rock ‘n roll…

“The Clapping Song” Shirley Ellis

lyrics ~

Three-six-nine the goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
The line broke the monkey got choked
and they all went to heaven in a little row boat

Clap pat, clap pat, clap pat, clap slap
Clap pat, clap your hand,
pat it on your partner’s hand, right hand
Clap pat, clap your hand,
cross it with your left arm
Pat your partner’s left palm

Clap pat, clap your hand,
pat your partner’s right palm
with your right palm again
Clap slap, clap your hand
Slap your thighs and sing a little song, go

My mama told me if I was goody
that she would buy me a rubber dolly
My aunty told her I kissed a soldier
Now she won’t buy me a rubber dolly

Three-six-nine the goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
The line broke the monkey got choked
and they all went to heaven in a little row boat

Clap, clap, clap your hands and prepare to pat
Clap, take your right arm,
pat your partner’s right palm with your right palm
Clap, take your hand back
and clap and clap and clap and clap
Clap, take your right arm,
cross your right arm with your left arm
Pat your partner’s left palm with your left palm
Clap, now back with a clap

(Instrumental)

Slap, take the pats of your palms
and slap your thighs
and watch the fun materialize
as you sing this little song

My mama told me if I was goody
that she would buy me a rubber dolly
My aunty told her I kissed a soldier
Now she won’t buy me a rubber dolly

Three-six-nine the goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
The line broke the monkey got choked
and they all went to heaven in a little row boat

Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, slap,
clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, slap

Off the table Mabel; the money’s for the beer.

  2. oh but why, don’t believe them when they say rock n roll is of the devil….

  3. Dani…
I’m picturing a group of kids on a city sidewalk in the Summer, Double Dutching…:-)
Nice to see you back Young Lady.
Loved your cunning and lingual 55
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

  4. Well, I will say that this surely woke me up this morning!!!

  5. I actually listen to more rock now than I used to, because my kids keep wanting to introduce me to bands. As to the rest… :)

Definitely one of my favorite posts this week! It’s only rock ‘n roll, but I love it!!

Such games–we just change the details as we get older.

  8. haha you know…one should never stop listening rock n roll..just saying…smiles

This was really fun and even the mother goose rhymes weren’t so innocent! All had hidden meanings… Love this creativity. I listen to everything… from hard rock to solo cello pieces…

  10. I love this Dani! Such a fun, slightly naughty take on games, although I have to say the games sure do change as we get older. I find my drug of choice these days comes from Starbucks, the rock and roll I adored as a teen plays on the classic rock station, and I just hope I dream about sex while I’m napping :D

i'd love to hear from you ♥ thanks! {comments must be approved before they are visible}
