ϿϾ

autumn memories

timid waves inching forward

as we fell in love

shy beginnings of  our lust

tender kisses on the beach

ϿϾ

water on warm sand

cool air around fervant need

our desire building

summer’s exit unnoticed

love’s flames all that we could see

ϿϾ

walking hand-in-hand

in the sunset of  our lives

autumn memories

wishing we could turn back time

start the journey once again

this is my attempt at Man’yoshu Japanese Poetry ~ Somon:  mutual exchanges of love or longing poetry; tanka: (5-7-5-7-7)

i wrote this as a love song between a man and a woman {though it would apply to any couple, no matter their gender}

the lines in italics are her speaking and the plain text lines are him speaking

Great song lyrics, some real soulful yearning. I love that beatles song, my band plays it.

    • it is one of so many songs by George and/or the Beatles which are as wonderful today as when first released, don’t you think? thank you very much for your visit and comment.

  4. You captured this exceptionally well. It was supposed to be both talking… I didn’t quite rise to the occasion. Your is beautiful.

    • you completely succeeded, Margaret! ♥ i just took the approach of both talking, it’s not required. i loved how your poem began innocently then you revealed her true thoughts.

  5. I loved your take, the passion, the romance of the season~ Just stunning!

  6. That’s a complex style and you handled it beautifully carrying me full circle through their story.

I hope I commented in the right place. I had some trouble finding the comment box.

    • i’m sorry it was hard for you to find the comment box. wordpress controls that, i’m afraid. thank you so much for your visit and kind comment, Nara! ♥

  7. nothing better than love on the beach and looking back in such a tender way..

  8. The seasonal references with the call and response (spoken or thought) are emotional, loving, told with that “reach” one has in all loving relationships. It doesn’t dwindle or fade..there is always a need to tell and to be reinforced. Well done…this is your mode and you use it with finesse and flair!

  9. nice autumn memories… wish we can turn back time ~

    • sometimes i wish, sometimes i’m afraid i might change something important to me. thank you for your visit and comment, Heaven. ♥ i always appreciate it.

  10. Dumped again!!!
    (Sigh)

  11. Sista Poet, I especially love that picture you found with the watch! That’s really cool, but then, so is my Sista Poet!

  12. I really like this line:

    “timid waves inching forward”

  13. Beautiful poem of reverie and nostalgia…love the format.

  14. romance at beach, wow, how sweet.

    very impressive expression.
