green

the eyes of  jealousy

flashing

angrily

when in her heart

it’s pain she feels

rejection

betrayal

“not good enough”

else why       ….why….

would he look to another?

·♦·ζ·♦·

green

the eyes of  jealousy…

her need

to hold him so tightly

out of  fear

and

desperation

knowing

she will lose him

if  she ever

lets go

·♦·ζ·♦·

green

the eyes of  jealousy

spill endless tears

as he leaves

knowing

she is alone

misunderstood

…..unwanted

….unheard

..unloved

again

  1. jealousy is something that happens depends if your lover makes u feel like u arent pretty enuf or feelings of having control over something or someone..

  2. An age old song… Very sad.

  3. Well done your words and your art~ So reflective of this piece~

    • oh, i so wish i could take credit for this art! it’s by Patrick Pearse and there’s a link to his flickr photostream right below the artwork. thank you for your visit and kind comment. ♥

  4. wonderfully expressed ~ such a depth of hurt and pain ~ followed the pattern ‘spilling’ out onto the page ~ first here then there ~ the process ~ of the green ~ like strips of barren field ~ so much inner heart revealed ~
    just wonderful ~ Lib ~
    Many Midsummer wishes

    • thank you, Lib! ♥ i love that ~ “Midsummer wishes” and may you have a lovely summer, too. i really appreciate your visit and such a nice comment! ♥

  5. yeah, each hurt is not only its own contained event, but it trails after it all of the similar hurts a person has experienced before. Ow!

    • isn’t that the truth! i am really trying to keep the past hurts out of my new relationship ~ i’m noy always succeeding at that, but i am getting better at recognizing when it has nothing to do with the present. please let Fireblossom know that i loved her Poetry Form feature at One Stop Poetry. both you and she are such amazing poets ~ truly mistresses of free verse. ♥ thank you for your visit and comment. ♥

  6. Such a great topic for the prompt. Jealousy is such a deeply tormenting emotion. It completely crowds out logic, plunges you into utter despair in an instant, and prevents you from ever really feeling happy and content in a relationship since you live everyday in fear of the loss. Wonderful poem

    • thank you for such an insightful comment. it is true that it makes you live in constant fear of losing the one you love, usually while you’re driving them away. i appreciate your visit. ♥

  7. outstanding.
    keep us inspired.

  8. Such a long and hard learned lesson. Unconditional love is wanted, and yet it only develops in an atmosphere of freedom. If you love it, let it go; but if it abuses you let if go far away and don’t pull on any strings that may have attached you once. It’s a strange balance especially when you’re young and vulnerable. Well written.. Gay

  9. Love the image and the poem is something most of us have felt at some time, like it or not. Very well done and moving.

  10. I love your work and am so happy to have your poetry as a part of The Summer of Color – it is only two weeks and I find myself really looking forward to what you are going to write. This piece is just wonderful – I love everything about it, thank you! xo

    • thank you, kristin! ♥ i am really enjoying the color prompts. i appreciate you hosting The Summer of Color and for your visit and kind comment. ♥

  11. mandy at eight is enough

    Well..this is amazing art..love it …xxx

  12. Ahh, the green-eyed monster can wreck such havoc on our emotions, our logic, our actions/reactions … all the while, pushing what we are afraid of losing … further and further away … vicious cycle. Well penned, dani!

    • it is a form of self-fulfilling prophesy, isn’t it? i was fortunate to never experience it personally, but even just seeing someone go through it is painful. thank you for your visit and kind comment, Becca! ♥

  13. I know those eyes so well…

  14. oh man, so sad and true. I know this. …love this so much!

  15. Lovely work… I have always wanted green eyes (a strange wish I know) but think of them as reflective, pensive. So perhaps the jealous theme was there for me also.. thoughtful

i'd love to hear from you ♥ thanks! {comments must be approved before they are visible}
