he weeps
standing next to the bench
where once she sat
when they were young
and gazed lovingly at him

·ƍ·

he weeps
in front of  every passerby
‘tho it’s a sunny day
memories of  her
consuming him

·ƍ·

he weeps
there’s nothing more
that he can do
no words
that he can say

·ƍ·

he weeps
for her loss
for the love
that could not be
today or any day

·ƍ·

he weeps
silently and tearless
though he is old now
wishing for her return
a dream that cannot be

·ƍ·

he weeps
as he stands alone
through every day
through every night
a weeping willow tree

  1. This is beautiful. I loved it. I could feel all he was feeling; so sensitive; very nice.

    • thank you so much, Isadora. such a generous comment ~ this was one of the rare poems that just flowed out, complete, i merely recorded it. ♥

  2. A beautiful, sad love poem…

  3. This is so beautiful, Dani. I love trees and thinking about how I will respond to the MMWP I thought of a tree, too. You’ve rendered this with such sensitivity and I’m so glad you linked up.

  4. This is quite a word picture you’ve painted…well crafted work.
