her mood…     indigo
she could not bear her mournful thoughts
she would not dare hold on to hope
she should not care,  but had no choice

bluer than blue  forevermore
he had  forsaken her
forgiveness not in her nature
forgetfulness not within her reach

blue Moon
spurned by her Lover
no longer reflecting his light
turned away
so as to not have to look upon his face

the dark side of  the Moon
shown to all but the stars
for they would not reveal
the tears she wept endlessly

her mood…     indigo

“Mood Indigo”   Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington

lyrics ~

Songwriters:  Albany Bigard,  Edward Ellington,  Irving Mills

You ain’t been blue, no, no, no
You ain’t been blue till you’ve had that mood indigo
That feelin’ goes stealin’ down to my shoes
While I sit and sigh, go ‘long blues

Always get that mood indigo
Since my baby said goodbye
In the evenin’ when lights are low
I’m so lonesome I could cry

‘Cause there’s nobody who cares about me
I’m just a soul who’s bluer than blue can be
When I get that mood indigo
I could lay me down and die

·ÌºÍ· as the wind blows chill…. {redux}

Wind God by Ogata Korin

·ºÌ€Íº·

as the wind blows chill
and the willow weeps

as day turns to night
and half  the world sleeps
.
º€º
.
as the sun and moon
chase each other ’round the sky

as the stars just watch
never wondering why
.
º€º
.
as time wanders by
because it can’t stand still

life doesn’t stop
and it never will
.
º€º
.
i turn in my grave
unnoticed by all

my death meant nothing
no one heeds my call
.
º€º
.
as the earth keeps turning
my soul now sleeps

as the wind blows chill
and the willow weeps

but seeing your face instead

and carries my love to you

Post A Day

tanka

from One Stop Poetry Form ~

Today the standard form is generally noted as (in syllables) 5-7-5-7-7.

A tanka is not one poem, but two. It’s a combination of two poems, or thoughts, etc.  The first three lines are called  Kami-no-ku (upper poem). The last two lines of 7-7 is called Shim-no-ku, (lower poem). They are joined by that middle pivot line, called kakekotoba.

The kakekotobais a pivot or bridge between the two main poems.  It should be part of the upper verse AND the lower verse in thought or poetry.  The pivot line is both the last image and end of the upper verse as well as the first image and beginning of the lower verse.  Both poems, read divided…the top from the bottom, should be able to stand on its own.

(Tanka usually has no punctuation, but that varies.) A tanka usually  contains a Kigo which is a word that reveals the season without saying it.  In the example above, perhaps the ‘red maple’ gives a hint of the season.

This last unit of 7-7 is used as a repetition or summary of the top poem.  I think of this shim-no-ku more as a re-enforcement or continuation of the sentiment of the whole poem…..Read More

a tree i once met

Response

.

i don’t recall
ever seeing
…no…  ever meeting
such a tree
before or since

.

she had no branches on one side
she leaned the other way
where all her limbs
seemed to be reaching out
protectively

.

if  you moved
within a few feet of  her
there was a palpable feeling
of  motherly love
and watchfulness

.

without a doubt
she has stood guard for years on end
enveloping all who grow near
with love
and safe refuge from the storms

i wonder what they say?

Inspiration Piece

.

in the quiet of  the night
when the Moon is full
not a star can be seen
because the Moon outshines them all

..

with the first blush of  pink
in the morning sky
i wonder what the Sun says
to the Moon as he passes?

..

in the quiet of  the night
when the Moon is partially hidden
you may see a little twinkle
of  a lonely star here or there

..

when the Moon is on
one side of  the world
and the Sun is on the other
i wonder who they talk to?

..

in the quiet of the night
when the Moon is but a sliver
the sky becomes full of  stars
dancing with delight

..

when the Sun is setting
and the Moon is nigh
i wonder what he says to her
as they pass each other by?

..
