ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?

.

.

..

“ever  dance  with  the  devil
in  the  pale  moonlight ?”

.

whispers  on  the  wind
rushing  toward  me  through  the  trees

.

an  invitation ?
or  a  dare ?

.

“ever  dance  with  one
so  fair  as  i ?”

.

said  with  my  arrogance  held  high
for  never  was  i  wont  to  show  a  trace  of  fear

.

blacker  than  the  night
yet  hotter  than  the  noonday  sun
he  held  me  close  and  tight

.

round  and  round  and  round  again  we  spun
’til  tornadoes  and  cyclones  were  birthed
while  thunder  and  lightning  roiled  across  the  sky

.

my  spine  rigid
my  resolve  firm
i  gave  no  quarter
and  stayed  my  feet

.

dawn  approached
demanding  that  he  concede

.

grudgingly  sparing  my  life  that  night
and,  yes,  my  very  soul  for  all  eternity

to  one  so  well-matched  in  determination  as  he

“Bad Moon Rising”   Creedence Clearwater Revival

lyrics ~

I see the bad moon rising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin’.
I see bad times today.
.
Don’t go around tonight.
Well, it’s bound to take your life.
There’s a bad moon on the rise.
.
I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers overflowin’.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.
.
Don’t go around tonight.
Well, it’s bound to take your life.
There’s a bad moon on the rise.
All right!
.
Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we’re in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.
.
Well, don’t go around tonight.
Well, it’s bound to take your life.
There’s a bad moon on the rise.
.
Don’t go around tonight.
Well, it’s bound to take your life.
There’s a bad moon on the rise.
