i am
i am all that i need

there may have been
( and this is rumour only )
there may have been
one time
one time i was in need

and in that time
that time of  need
( the one that’s rumour only )
perhaps
just perhaps,  mind you
a guardian angel
looked out for me

impossible to prove,  i say
i say,  impossible to prove

and as i was all alone
at the time
( the time that’s rumour only )
it cannot be proved

though the fact
that i am here
alive
today
may be all the proof
that’s needed

proof
that there is,  indeed,
an angel watching over me

i shall not tell you more
no,  i shall not tell

for
i am
i am all

all that i need
i am

“Calling All Angels”    Train

lyrics ~

I need a sign to let me know you’re here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know that things are gonna look up
Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup
When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head
When you can feel the world shake from the words that I said

And I’m calling all angels
And I’m calling all you angels

And I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up

I need a sign to let me know you’re here
Cause my tv set just keeps it all from being clear
I want a reason for the way things have to be
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me

And I’m calling all angels
And I’m calling all you angels

When children have to play inside so they don’t disappear
While private eyes solve marriage lies cause we dont talk for years
And football teams are kissing queens and losing sight of having dreams
In a world where all we want is only what we want untill it’s ours

And I’m calling all angels
And I’m calling all you angels
And I’m calling all angels
(I won’t give up if you don’t give up)
And I’m calling all you angels
(I won’t give up if you don’t give up)
Calling all you angels
(I won’t give up if you don’t give up)
Calling all you angels
(I won’t give up if you don’t give up)
Calling all you angels

“Calling All Angels 2″   k.d. lang and Jane Siberry

lyrics ~

Santa Maria, Santa Teresa, Santa Anna, Santa Susannah
Santa Cecilia, Santa Copelia, Santa Domenica, Mary Angelica
Frater Achad, Frater Pietro, Julianus, Petronilla
Santa, Santos, Miroslaw, Vladimir
and all the rest

Oh, a man is placed upon the steps, a baby cries
and high above you can hear
the church bells start to ring
and as the heaviness, oh the heaviness, the body settles in
somewhere you can hear a mother sing

then it’s one foot then the other
as you step out onto the road of hope
step out on that road
how much weight? how much?
then it’s how long? and how far?
and how many times oh, before it’s too late?

calling all angels calling all angels
walk me through this one
don’t leave me alone
calling all angels calling all angels
we’re tryin’ and we’re hopin’
but we’re not sure how…

ah, and every day you gaze upon the sunset
with such love and intensity
why it’s ah, it’s almost as
if you could only crack the code
then you’d finally understand what this all means

ah, but if you could…do you think you would
trade in all, all the pain and suffering?
ah, but then you’d miss
the beauty of the light upon this earth
and the sweetness of the leaving

calling all angels calling all angels
walk me through this one
don’t leave me alone
calling all angels calling all angels
we’re tryin’ and we’re hopin’
but we’re not sure…

calling all angels calling all angels
walk me through this one
don’t leave me alone
calling all angels calling all angels
we’re tryin’ we’re hopin’
we’re hurtin’ we’re lovin’
we’re cryin’ we’re callin’
cause we’re not sure how this goes

  1. I’m glad you went back and decided to try this one, SP! Got to watch out for those rumors…they are sometimes true!

  2. nice….we def love a little train here….the repetition in your own verse gives it a really nice musicality…

  3. Wonderful that you have the feel of angels! A great gift. k.

  4. A little guardian angel… Oh I love that.

  5. Love this manifesto to individualism, but with the supposition there may be angels standing by…I surely hope so!

  6. I like the call to the angels ~ I believe in them, smiles ~

  7. I like the feeling of empowerment at the end of your poem. “I am all that I need” — strong words indeed!

  8. Seems to be a real musical influence here (but maybe it’s only a rumour).
    K

  9. Nice way to draw these challenges together…good fit. Enjoyed! ♥

  10. yep…there are things you have no proof for other than things would look different if there hadn’t been one.. good to see you dani.. smiles

  11. Lovely poem,,,flowing as if the universe.

  12. I’ve had that feeling also – but it’s only rumour

  13. I have always believed in guardian angels… the image of the draped angel over the coffin is really moving. Nice poem!

  14. Helen

I also appreciated the strength and spirit in your words.

  15. I really admire the original voice you have used in this poem. It rings with authenticity – and hints at much more left unspoken.

  16. Dani, I was so happy to see you at my blog. The k.d. and Jane version of “Calling all Angels” is so lovely. I do believe I have a guardian angel, and it’s no rumor… interesting how you wove that in, because it includes those who question their existence. The other day a homeless guy stopped me from crossing when a man ran a red light. Angels all around us. Amy

  17. Hey Dani, there is a wonderful exuberance here. Terrific, thanks. K.
