⋆
to celebrate {inter}national poetry month, i am pleased to be featuring some of the most creative, talented, brilliant {really!} poets of our time. i have been fortunate over the past two and a half years to meet this amazing group of people through twitter and their blogs. not only are they writers who excite and enchant and entrance their readers, they are, one and all, nice people who are supportive of everyone in our online poetry community. the “age of technology” has, in fact, facilitated the spread of the ARTS! ~ poetry, photography, art, prose, music… i have friends i have yet to meet face-to-face from all around the world. day or night, you can visit their blogs and be transported to another time or place or frame of mind with just a few clicks of a mouse. i find it thrilling! and i believe you will find it equally thrilling to discover their words.
i will be putting up these posts throughout the month of April to reacquaint you with old friends and introduce you to new ones. in order to include as many poets as possible, most posts will contain the work of several poets, with a short introduction to each one and a small sampling of their poetry. i am participating in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge April 2012 by featuring the poets in alphabetical order by first name MOST of the time ~ there will be a few other groupings, as well. due to problems with my laptop, i am adjusting my plans and will be including poets i may miss when originally planned and including them in another post. i hope you don’t mind. {smile}
just click on the “Read More” links on each poem to be taken to a new tab or window to read the rest of the poem on the author’s blog. if you enjoy what you read, please leave a comment on their blog to let them know. { you don’t have to say you saw them here. } i am truly honored that these wonderful people agreed to be featured on my blog ~ my gratitude to them all.
and thank you for coming to our celebration ~ enjoy!

featured poet: coal black
⋆
Coal Black is unique among the poets i know ~ she is an edgy, provocative poet with a one-of-a-kind voice. quite often her poems sing the blues… and i mean sing, as the music comes through when you read her words, probably because Coal is a singer, too. aside from her poetry, she is unique because she is…. shall we say the “alter-ego” of Fireblossom, another brilliant poet who will be featured soon. click here to read about the birth of Coal Black.
treat yourself and spend some time exploring her blog. here’s a little taste ~

featured poet: Christina Nguyen
⋆
Christina (Tina) Nguyen is a poet i met on twitter { @TinaNguyen } ~ she is a STUNNING poet and one of the sweetest women i know. she was instrumental in encouraging me with my writing. {thank you, Tina!} in May 2011, Tina started International 5 Line Poetry Month on twitter and her blog, A wish for the sky… and provides a weekly word prompt for people to tweet 5 line poetry using the hashmark #5poem. The International 5 Line Poetry Month event will be held again this May ~ keep checking Tina’s blog for the info. Tina does not limit herself to writing only gogyohka and writes some of the best micropoetry i’ve ever seen. if you like poetry, be sure to follow her on twitter.

featured poet: Becky Sain
⋆
Becky Sain { @beckysain } holds a special place in my heart for a number of reasons. she was the first person i ever talked to on twitter, the first friend i made on twitter, the first writer i ever met. through Becky, i was introduced to and began following writers, poets, photographers and artists which led directly to me writing. Becky is one of ~ if not THE ~ most talented writers i know. on her blog, First Pages, she writes about her life, her family, life in general, families in general, poetry and short stories. her writing is always evocative ~ i am drawn in as though actually standing with her in her tales of her life. her poetry touches a place deep inside of me. her short fiction can be found HERE. be sure to take a look around while you’re at her blog. you’ll enjoy it, i promise. i am only sharing a bit of Becky’s poetry here but her prose pieces are equally amazing.
and now, her words ~

“Wandering… alone” by Becky Sain

Wandering… alone.
Walking through the thoughts that hold me together,
keep me connected to your soul,
tether me to a place that allows me to breathe.
I want to stay here.
I want to never leave.
I want to drown in this rising current.
I want to slip under the wave of emotions that have elud…..Read More

“the poem i didn’t write” by Becky Sain
⋆
this is the poem i didn’t write.
it put me on a collision course with all the stones i threw.
it pushed me within inches of the blue part of the flame.
it made me hold my gaze so long my eyes burned.
it tied me to the tracks and walked slowly away.
it cut my anchor and left me drifting from the shore.
it opened the door and locked it as i passed through.
it cringed when i sang o…..Read More

i would have loved to have included more poets, but it just wasn’t possible in the amount of time which i can devote to my blog right now. there are many, many more poets who are far better writers than i, and i sincerely hope no one is offended that i did not ask them to participate. these are the poets i “know” and felt comfortable approaching. maybe you and i can get better acquainted before next year? {smile} thank you for your visit! ♥ dani

Love the concept here, dani–introducing us to poets we may not have met, or reminding us of the best of those we have. Of course, coal black is familiar to me as the other half on one of my favoritest and best online poets, Fireblossom and Becky Sain I’ve met and enjoyed before at dVerse. Tina Nguyen and Becca Givens are new to me, so thanks for that, and way to celebrate national poetry month. (ps–the blog is looking divine!)
thank you so much, hedge! ♥ this is my spring/summer look for the blog. {smile} i love when someone finds new-to-them poets through this series… that’s the main reason that i decided to do it again this year. i appreciate your kind comment!
What a delight — thank you!!!! ♥
thank you for agreeing to participate, Becca! ♥ and for the delicious muffin recipe!
Awesome! A couple that I know and a couple that are new to me. And, I just want to be Coal Black when I grow up.
don’t we all! {smile} thank you, MZ! ♥ i appreciate your visit and kind comment.
