i recognized him as a fallen angel
from the singed tips
of his still smoking wings,
a broken halo
lying on the ground
• Ꮗ •
the angel turned his head
and i could see the anguish in his eyes
no need for words to be spoken
nothing i could do to help
his banishment was final
• Ꮗ •
ah, my love, my fallen angel
i wish that i could heal
your wounded heart
what sin did you commit, i wonder
to be exiled from Heaven?
Ꮂ •Ꮗ• Ꮂ
did you realize
you were standing at the crossroads?
was this your solitary crime
or had you been warned not to continue
along your path to self-destruction?
• Ꮗ •
i hear your silent lament
your wretched soul
looking for salvation
too late…. too late….
your banishment was final
• Ꮗ •
ah, my love, my fallen angel
if it were within my power
to gift you with innocence
would you so desire?
flying straight to Heaven
without a thought
for mankind?
• Ꮗ •
mayhap a truer gift
would be a life
on Earth
with me

Carol of the Bells
lyrics ~
Hark! how the bells, sweet silver bells
All seem to say, throw cares away.
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, (meek and the bold)
Ding, dong, ding, dong, that is their song,
With joyful ring, (all caroling)
One seems to hear words of good cheer
From everywhere, (filling the air)
O, how they pound, raising the sound
O’er hill and dale, telling their tale
Gaily they ring, while people sing
Songs of good cheer, christmas is here!
Merry, merry, merry, merry christmas!
Merry, merry, merry, merry christmas!
On, on they send, on without end
Their joyful tone to every home
(Hark! how the bells, sweet silver bells
All seem to say, throw cares away.)
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, (meek and the bold)
Ding, dong, ding, dong, that is their song
With joyful ring, (all caroling.)
One seems to hear words of good cheer
From everywhere, (filling the air)
O, how they pound, raising the sound
O’er hill and dale, telling their tale
Gaily they ring, while people sing
Songs of good cheer, christmas is here!
Merry, merry, merry, merry christmas!
Merry, merry, merry, merry christmas!

thank you so much! ♥ i really appreciate your visit and kind comment.
I like that gift of innocence…nice one ~
Happy Holidays to you Dani ~
All the best for the New Year ~
thank you, Heaven! ♥ wishing you happy holidays and a wonderful new year as well. ♥
of course, nicely done dani…first thought went to the song earth angel…dunno why but hey….perhaps the greater gift is just that…and the same maybe the reason of their falling….very sweet sentiment though…nicely done dani
thank you so much, brian! wishing you the happiest of holidays! ♥
A beautiful and thoughtful poem, Dani. So touching. I think the angel would like to stay here on earth (and probably IS among us today. Look around).
thank you very much, Mary! ♥ i truly appreciate your comment.
Such loveliness!!! *love you hugs*
so happy to see you, sweetheart! ♥ i love you! happy holidays! *giant glittery squishy hugs*
some of these fallen angels would probably give a lot for a second chance..and some get it… happy holiday season to you dani
happy holidays to you, claudia! ♥ second chances are a wonderful gift!
I was going to say the final stanzas really build in strength and insight–so looks like you are waxing more poetic all the time, dear dani. Enjoyed your answer to the questions you pose here–if you are on earth, then come down to earth and live your life as the gift it is. Happy holidays!
thank you, Joy! ♥ your opinion means so much to me and i always appreciate your visits. happy holidays! ♥
love your take and message,
well done.
thank you, Summer! ♥
I have performed Carol Of The Bells many times over the years and never tire of listening, especially this time of the year.
Fallen angels ~ yes they live a solitary existence.
i’ve always loved the song though i never could make out the words. it’s the arrangement, i guess you call it? that i love. happy holidays, Helen! ♥
This is beautiful, Dani. I hadn’t heard of mayhap before.
{giggle} maybe i should look it up and see if it’s a real word? thank you for your sweet comment, Laurie! ♥ happy holidays!
What a great scene, and the end makes me smile.
thank you, Judy! ♥ i appreciate your visit and kind comment.
Their voices are so clear and beautiful! I have always loved The Carol Of The Bells.
I feel bad for the banished angel.
i do, too! ♥
This poem reminds me of a novel, “Angelology,” interesting read, kind of creepy. I enjoyed your poem. There’s a bit of fallen angel in us all, I guess.
i’ll have to check out the novel. i think you’re right about there being a bit of angel in us all ~ fallen would be most likely, wouldn’t it? thank you for your visit and comment, Victoria! ♥
so thoughtful thanks for sharing at poetry picnic.
thank you, Morning! ♥
a somber tale told very well. Happy holidays to you.
thank you, Sheila! ♥
What a lovely post —
To me …adding the music added a wondrous addition to it as I was reading … poignant question! who wouldn’t love a second chance at some fateful moments!!
Wishing you and yours a Blessed Divine Season of Love and Light!! Merry Christmas, Dani!!
thank you, becca! ♥ Merry Christmas to you!

Hi dani,
Very nice poem and written so well. What if we are all fallen angels and just do not know it? And if we pass the test then we go back to heaven and if not we come back here. Or possibly fallen angels are given the task to see how many of us they can save. Until reading this I never really thought much about fallen angels. I love writings that make us think, that touch our heart. This poem does that.
Thanks so much for playing in this weeks Theme Thursday Gift. I truly enjoyed your gift for writing and thank you for sharing it with us. I hope you will share many more with us.
Merry Christmas!!
God bless.
thank you so much! ♥ happy holidays to you!
Simply stunning. The visuals are heartbreaking, and the added ending is a glimmer of hope. What a perfect bit of verse containing both dark and light.
Thank you for the gift of your words!!
Happy TT and happy holidays!
