early in the morn

:

early  in  the  morn

when  the  sun  peeks  over  a   mountain…..

  …..the  horizon…..         …..or  a  sea…..

and  the  first  warm  rays  of  glorious  sunlight

caress  my  face         …..saying  hello  to  me…..

i  know  that  whatever  comes  my  way  this  day

nothing  can  take   that  feeling   away

thank you, Simon, for allowing me to use another of your stunning photographs!

please visit Simon at his blog “Simon’s (a)musing” http://simonscotland.wordpress.com where he has amazing haiku, fabulous photographs, baseball, Doctor Who, recipes, essays,  short stories, book summaries …  in short, you never know what you may discover there. one of my favorites is when he takes us along with him {both in words and photographs} on his walks through his beautiful country of Scotland. Also visit his flickr photostream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/simonklloyd for magical photographs of birds, wildlife, nature, most especially Scotland. Simon has a stunning and rare ability to capture light, and Scotland has gorgeous light. i am grateful for Simon’s generosity in allowing me to borrow his photographs to include in my posts. a gentle poet with a truly kind heart. thank you, Simon. *big squishy hugs of gratitude*

  1. Absolutely stunning Dani and very kind words for Simon…

    I did not know that he had short stories, hmmm – love that stuff… Thanks Dani!

    • thank you so much, dear Brett. the posts that i enjoy the most are when Simon captions photographs of his walks. he also has a short essay on the history of the canals near his home. believe it or not, it’s very interesting! i think he only has one short story posted, though i know he has plans for more. this photograph from his holiday in Hawick just blew me away! he really does have a talent for capturing light. glad you liked it. hope your roof is done and your neck is getting better. *hugs*

  2. Wow ~ thank you for your kind words ~ it is always a pleasure to read the words you write to accompany my pics. The words often bring new meaning to the pic and I thank you for that {{{big squishy hugs of gratitude}}}

    • thank YOU, Simon! this is one of my favorites of all your photographs. the way you captured the sunlight is phenomenal! you truly do have a gift when it comes to sunrises, sunsets, cloudy days…. any time there is light, you make it magical. i appreciate the honor of being allowed to use your photographs. *biggest squishiest hugs* <3

  3. That was beautiful Dani. You are really expanding the power of your words & Simon’s picture was perfect. Wow, the two of you should do a poetry with picture book. You compliment each other nicely. Did you write this first or think of the words after seeing the picture. I am always amazed with process. *Twister Hugs* Kristin :)

    • wow! thank you, Kristin! isn’t Simon’s photograph stunning? he captures light like very few i’ve ever seen. he writes prose and poetry on his blog, too, and a goodnightku every day on twitter. he’s been kind enough to allow me to use any of his photographs that i like in several posts now. i think the only time i’ve gone looking for a photo to go with a verse was for “when you wish upon a star.” with this photograph, i immediately knew i wanted to use it for one of my morning poems. the only consistency i have now on my blog is to start the day with a poem about a sunrise or the sun or morning. i’ve found that that’s the only topic that i can be inspired by every time. sunsets, twilight and night are my second favorite. many times with Simon’s photographs, a song will immediately come to mind. when i include a link to a song or a music video, i listen to the lyrics several times and incorporate at least the feeling into my verse. i’m learning that i’m never satisfied now to just “force” a poem. if it doesn’t flow, it’s not right. i’m not saying that everything i write is good, by any means, but i do know that if i try to force the words, it will be bad. that means fewer posts, but hopefully better. i can’t imagine writing prose like you do. {laughing} i’d probably want each and every sentence to “flow” and would never finish. i really appreciate you coming by, and especially your comments. you, dear Twister, are the person who convinced me that i am a poet. ;-) and i love the sound and feel of it. many, many thanks for that, sweetheart. *big twisty squishy hugs* <3
